2. Information only
Content on this site is general information about tax and accounting topics. It is not tax, legal, financial or investment advice, and it does not create a client relationship. Laws, thresholds and deadlines change; confirm anything before you rely on it.
3. Engagements
A client relationship with TLR begins only when both parties sign an engagement letter that describes the scope of work and the fee. Anything discussed before that, including in a free consultation, is preliminary and not a commitment by either side.
4. No legal services
TLR is a tax and accounting firm. Its practitioners are licensed by the U.S. Department of the Treasury to represent taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service and practise under Treasury Department Circular 230. TLR is not a law firm, does not provide legal services, and does not perform financial-statement audits or other attestation services.
5. Tools and calculators
Calculators and checklists on this site produce estimates from the numbers you enter and simplified assumptions. They are for orientation only.
6. Your use of the site
You may use the site for lawful purposes. You may not scrape it, attempt to gain unauthorized access to the client portal, or submit false information through our forms.
7. Intellectual property
The TLR name, logo and site content are owned by Tax Law Research Inc. You may share links and short quotations with attribution; you may not republish content without permission.
8. Third-party services
Scheduling (Calendly), messaging (WhatsApp), analytics (Google) and the client portal are operated by third parties under their own terms and privacy policies.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, TLR is not liable for losses arising from use of this website or reliance on its general content. Liability for engaged services is governed by the engagement letter.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Disputes are subject to the courts of Orange County, California.
