What we collect
Through this website: name, email, phone and message when you use the contact form; scheduling details when you book through Calendly; your email when you request a checklist; usage data through Google Analytics (pages visited, device, approximate location); and cookie preferences.
As a client: the tax and financial information needed to perform the engagement — identification numbers, income and expense records, bank and payroll data — collected through the secure client portal, never by email.
How we use it
To respond to your enquiry, schedule and hold consultations, perform engaged services, send the resources you request, meet legal and professional obligations, and improve the site. We do not sell personal information and we do not share client tax information except as required to perform the engagement (for example, e-filing with the IRS and states) or as required by law.
Tax information confidentiality
Tax return information is protected under Internal Revenue Code §7216 and Treasury regulations. We do not use or disclose it for any purpose other than preparing and filing your returns and providing the services you engaged, without your written consent.
Cookies and analytics
Necessary cookies keep the site working. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) load only if you accept them in the cookie banner. See the Cookie Policy.
Third parties
Calendly (scheduling), WhatsApp (messaging, if you choose to use it), Google (analytics, maps, reviews), our client-portal and e-signature providers, payroll and accounting software providers used for your engagement, and the IRS and state tax agencies. Each processes data under its own policy.
Retention
Enquiries: up to two years. Client records: at least seven years after the engagement, as professional standards and tax law require, then securely destroyed.
Security
Encryption in transit and at rest, two-factor authentication on the portal and internal systems, access limited to staff working on your file, and no sensitive documents by email.
Your California privacy rights
Under the CCPA/CPRA, California residents may request to know what personal information we hold, request deletion (subject to legal retention duties), correct inaccurate information, and opt out of sale or sharing — which we do not do. International clients
If you are outside the United States, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States, where TLR operates.
Children
The site is not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their information.
